Online Classes Update and Disclaimer

Dear Parents and Karateka, The first week of the summer term online classes has been going really well. It has been a very humbling experience for me to see so many enthusiastic martial artists working hard at home and making the most of a very challenging situation.  People are understandably coming to terms with the start of term being online at different paces. I just wanted to reassure everyone that you can join these classes at any time, so please don’t worry if you want to register but have not got round to starting classes again yet. The access codes for all the classes are the same and we just take a register of who is attending the classes so you are free to try classes out whenever you are able to.  There is no pressure to join our online classes if you or your child is not keen to continue their classes this way. Everyone's space in the physical dojo is on hold so you do not risk losing your space if you choose not to do the online classes. If you have not been attending classes for financial reasons rather than out of choice then I would like to remind you that I can be flexible with the terms and you can email me confidentially to discuss.  Online Classes Update:

  • Orange belts are now also welcome in the Green ‘Tiger Cubs’ classes on Wednesday at 11am and Saturday at 9:00am. If your child finds the pace of the White-Green Stripe classes hard to keep up with then I would advise you to try the Tiger Cubs classes which are geared more towards younger children whilst still containing all the syllabus material that orange belts and below will need to progress. These classes also have less students participating so it is easy for us to manage the extra belt colour.

  • The Wednesday morning fitness class is now open to ALL students regardless of whether they have signed up for classes and they also do not count towards your maximum 2 classes if you have chosen the £100 option.

  • Please ensure that the screen name on Zoom is that of the Karate student and not the parent. All students should have their own name and belt colour on display as it helps me to arrange the subgroup rooms and it helps our instructors to identify the participant. You can change your screen name by clicking ‘participants’ on a tablet or by clicking the three dots on the top right side of your picture if you are on a computer.

  • There are a few safeguarding points that are unique to online classes so I ask you all to read the next part very carefully if you are attending online classes.

Important Disclaimer: Please take sensible safety precautions when participating in our online classes without an instructor physically present. By participating in Crouching Tiger Karate online classes you agree and understand the following: Please make sure you have a safe and clear space to move around in.  A parent must be present in the same room if the student is under 11 years old and should supervise the child, older children must get parental permission to attend the classes. Do not attempt anything that you do not feel 100% comfortable with. You have the option to have your camera on for the instructor to give you corrections or camera off if you are not comfortable with it being on. Either way is fine for us. Make sure that you are well hydrated before the class starts. Have a bottle of water nearby. Try to wait for water breaks in the class but if you do need water then it is fine to have it at any time.  Karate uniforms are not necessary for the fitness class. We recommend you wear your Karate uniform (if you have one) to the other classes but they are not compulsory.  You should understand that when participating in any exercise or an online exercise program, there is the possibility of physical injury. If you engage in this martial arts class, you agree that you do so at your own risk, are voluntarily participating in these activities, assume all risk of injury to yourself, and agree to release and discharge Crouching Tiger Karate from any and all claims or causes of action, known or unknown, arising out of Crouching Tiger Karate classes. By participating our classes, you are agreeing to waive any and all liability to Crouching Tiger Karate and its instructors. If you have any questions, queries or concerns then please feel free to ask. You can email or call me using the details given below.
